Match report
Malvern RFC 1 V 1 Evesham RFC
Sunday 15th November 2015
Game 1
On a wet and windy morning, Evesham A team under 11's took on a well drilled Malvern outfit. Evesham started well and within the first 5 minutes were over the white wash with quick hands from the backs leaving an overlap for George Brett to use his pace to dive over the line.
With a try in the bag Evesham continued to pile on the pressure only to be kept out out from some brave defending from Malvern.
Half time Malvern 0-1 Evesham
Second half started as the first half finished with Evesham putting on the pressure but Malvern managed to turn the ball over and moved the ball quickly to score their first try. Evesham responded quickly with Laurie Checkley going over the line but the try was ruled out by the referee for the ball not being grounded over the line (clear try but never mind).
Evesham continued to pressure the Malvern defence and with only seconds to start the forwards powered up the field winning quick ruck ball and going through 6 phases of play. The ball was then moved into the back line for Joe Moore to dive over the line to win the game.
Final score Malvern 1-2 Evesham.
Game 2
The next game saw a mixture of development players and a couple of A team players. Malvern got off to a great start scoring 2 early tries. Evesham tried to keep their heads up and held out the pressure of the Malvern attack till half time.
Half time Malvern 2-0 Evesham
The second half saw much of the same with two more tries to Malvern. Evesham tried to push their way over the try line on a couple of occassions but with some great defence from Malvern they stopped Evesham's best efforts.
Final score Malvern 4-0 Evesham
The whole team played their hearts out and we are proud of them!
