Suffolk Mushrooms win the Gold!
In March 2014, Suffolk Mushrooms were honoured with the highly prestigious Gold Level Award from the Suffolk County Council's Carbon Charter Project at the Council Offices in Ipswick. One of the first businesses to achieve accreditation through the Suffolk Carbon Leader Programme, the award marks the farm's achievement in carbon reduction and their commitment to continue this work.
Brian Cartwright, Walsh Mushroom's Sales & Marketing Director,
was there to receive the award on the night from Councillor Guy McGregor, Chairman of the Council and had the following words to say:
"Businesses in the region compete rigorously for recognition in the area of environmental support as part of an overall commitment to making Suffolk the UK's greatest county. There are three levels of award, Bronze, Silver and Gold. It is usual for successful businesses to gain Bronze initially, sometimes Silver with Gold being earned over subsequent years. To be awarded GOLD LEVEL after a first audit makes Suffolk Mushrooms somewhat unique."
In their confirmation of the award, the judging panel cited the following: “A commitment to maintaining a high level of accreditation across different aspects of your performance exemplifies a strong approach to transparent and credible corporate responsibility”. They also confirmed that Gold level was only awarded to companies who also used their position to influence their communities, through their supply chain, customers or staff.
